The Sofia “adventure”

Wassup Chris Crockers?

It’s a long story, but since I’m pretty lazy (and tired), I’ll try to make it short.

Well, I’ll save the trip to the train station for myself and I’ll start with my arrival there. I was expected. A mom and a son, applying for the same organisation as I do, were also on their way to Sofia. I believe the mom’s name was Dianna and her son was Radin. We were the only ones from Varna, so it was cool to meet them. They seemed very nice and we just hung out for a good 15 minutes before we go to our wagons. I was alone there, nothing better than an empty compartment. Right, but wrong. A young lady came up to me and asked me if she can join me for the ride to Sofia, since apparently 5 Turkish man had invaded her compartment. She was nice, and guess what?! She works at Ginger ! If you remember it from one of my previous blog posts, that’s the best Coffee in the world. So yeah, we were sweet talking for 2 or 3 hours, after what she fell asleep. Around 3:46 am, an old man joined us and 2 hours later an old women also came. It wasn’t a fun ride! I couldn’t get any sleep and the time was passing by so very slow…

Anyway, I was in Sofia probably around 6:30 am. I met Dianna and Radin again, so we could work something out for the interview and the rest of the day…or should I say the whole day? A dude was waiting for me at the central train station, I rudely told him that I’m coming to Sofia and he has no other choice, but to come and pick me up, haha. And he did. He’s such a sweetheart! So I left Ms.D and went at Ivan’s place to take a huge nap. I woke up at 1.00 pm and…I was LATE. Sofia is a big town…not huge like London, but…it has 2 and a half million citizens, you do the math. I had 1 hour to get where I was supposed to be at 2.00. I bought a sandwich, a bubblegum and some juice and I went on a taxi. The traffic is horrible, I do never want to come back there again! Anyway, I made it in time by just a thread. I saw Radin was looking for me, so I went to say “hi” and then we walked into the room . One of the girls that was applying for Germany, nearly fainted. she turned all pale, her hands started sweating and all…wouldn’t want to be her. As for me…I was surprisingly calm. I smiled all the time, it was nothing hard. The assessment commission was consisted of two german ladies, one of which was speaking perfect bulgarian, and the other one - english, and also 5 former foreign exchange students. They needed a volunteer to pick and envelope with a task in it. Of course, I picked it…since everybody else were afraid. Nothing too scary - a mom found her foreign exchange daughter’s secret diary and read it, the girl found out and the mom was in shock. And we had to discuss the situation. After that they asked us, who do we think is the most global problem of 21-st century. Also easy. Then they wanted to know if we were a subject of our every day lives, what would we be and why. And the last thing was a little chat on a foreign language. German and English. Also piece of cake. But one of the girls, as I already told you, got some sort of a panic attack and she blew it. But the others were okay…I guess. We’ll see tomorrow, the results should be up until then. I’m pretty happy with what I did…let’s hope for the best!

And after the interview, I spent the rest of the day with Ms. D and Radin. We went to the mall, watched some movie with Ashton Kutcher, Jessica Alba and Anne Hathaway in it (and some other famous names…but I can’t remember them now), then we went to a restaurant…twice. Well, I don’t have anything to complain about, it was a great day.

Not so much for the coming back, thought. The heat in my compartment was unbearable!!! It was like 55 degrees celly. I had to open the window every 30 seconds, just so I don’t get boiled. And that didn’t give me any peace. 4 hours in a row, I did nothing, but hold the window open. It was fucked up. And when I finally went to sleep (around 5 am), some freak almost breaks my neck by “waking me up”, so he could sit. There were other free compartments, the train was almost empty, WHY ME?! But I’ll get over it, I promise.

This was it for today. :D I’ll tune back tomorrow for more news!
